UK’s Food Inflation Reaches 12-Month Low

Following a recent high of 19.1% in March 2023, which was the highest annual rate observed in more than 45 years, food inflation in the United Kingdom decreased to 13.6% year-over-year in August 2023, down from 14.8% in July and a recent high of 14.8%. The categories of milk, cheese, and eggs (15.3% decreased from 18.7% in July), vegetables (14.0% decreased from 16.7%), and fish (6.8% decreased from 13.4%), with the latter category being predominantly headed by a variety of fresh, chilled, frozen, and processed fish and shellfish.
