Retail Sales in Denmark Drop 0.3%

According to preliminary statistics from Statistics Denmark, retail sales in Denmark decreased in February as a result of a drop in the demand for groceries, food, and clothing.

After increasing by 2.2 percent in January, retail revenue decreased by 1.3 percent month over month in February.

Food and other grocery sales fell by 1.5 percent on a weekly basis in February.

While other consumables saw a 1.0 percent increase in revenue, clothing saw a 2.0 percent decline.

Following a 6.0 percent decline in January, retail revenue fell 4.3 percent in February on an annual basis.

Retail sales fell 6.2 percent yearly and contracted 0.8 percent from the prior three months from December to February.
