Number of visitors to museums and ruins affiliated to Ministry increased by 24.4% in Turkey

The number of museums in Turkey increased by 16 and reached to 467 in 2019. Out of these, 199 museums were affiliated to Ministry of Culture and Tourism, while 268 of them were under private museum category.

Number of works in the museum affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, was decreased by 2.2% in 2019 compared to 2018 and was 3 million 263 thousand 251.

Number of visitors museums and ruins affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism which was 35 million 48 thousand 417 was increased by 24.4% in 2019 compared to 2018.

Number of visitors paid to museums and ruins affiliated to Ministry increased by 18.2%

In Turkey, the number of visitors paid for entrance to museums and historical sites affiliated to the Ministry was increased by 18.2% compared to the previous year. The number of visitors paid for entrance to museums and historical sites affiliated to Ministry in 2019 was 62.4% in total visitors with 21 million 873 thousand 822 visitors. The number of unpaid visitors to museums and ruins was 13 million 174 thousand 595 and share in total visitors was realized as 37.6% in 2019.

Number of available works in the private museums was increased by 3.1%

The current number of works in the private museums increased by 3.1% in 2019 compared to 2018 and was increased to 408 thousand 649.

Number of private museum visitors was increased by 30.3%

The number of private museum visitors was increased by 30.3% in 2019 compared to 2018 and reached to 16 million 258 thousand 132.

Number of immovable cultural properties under responsibility of museums was increased by 4.0%

The number of immovable cultural properties under the responsibility of museums was increased by 4.0% in 2019 compared to 2018 and reached to 113 thousand 137. The largest number of immovable cultural properties under the responsibility of museums was in Istanbul with 32 thousand 68; İstanbul was followed in order by İzmir with 7 thousand 393 immovable cultural properties, by Muğla with 4 thousand 585 immovable cultural properties and by Bursa with 4 thousand 422 immovable cultural properties

Number of nature parks was increased by 1.6%

Number of the national parks was remained same and the number of nature parks was increased by 1.6% in 2019 compared to 2018. In the same period, the total area of the nature parks was increased by 0.4%. The number of nature parks reached to 247 and total area of them increased to 106 thousand 836 hectares in 2019.

Area of the natural monuments was increased by 25.4%

In 2019, the number of natural monuments was increased 3.6% and reached 116 compared with the previous year. The area of the natural monuments was increased 25.4% and reached 9 thousand 390 hectares.
