In accordance with Law, when a journalist works on national holidays, general holidays and the weekends, the work is considered extra work. The fee for each hour of extra work shall be 50% more of the normal hourly fee.

That document should be prepared by the employer;
it presents the payments made (in cash or via bank) by the employer to the employee and the calculation of the pay (pay cuts and number of ssi days) and it should be signed by both the employer and the employee.

2- IN WHICH LAW IS THE PAY SLIP INDICATED?
The provision about the Preparation of Pay Slip is indicated in article 37 of the Labor Law numbered 4857.

3- WHAT ARE THE NECESSARY INFORMATIONS THAT SHOULD BE WRITTEN IN PAY SLIP?
            3.1-  The amount of daily pay, gross and net pays
            3.2-  The amount of minimum living allowance
            3.3-  Pay day
            3.4-  Pay period
            3.5-  Overwork (if any)
            3.6-  Weekend
            3.7-  festive holidays and vacation pays
            3.8-  Every kind of payments added to actual pay (premium, bonuses etc)
            3.9-  The amount of tax cuts made from the employer and the employee
            3.10-  Insurance premium cut made from the employer and the employee
            3.11-  Advance payment offset (if any)
            3.12- The cuts like alimony and levy

Shipmen having completed their weekly working hours are able to have holidays for the rest of the week. On the harbor services and city line ships, shipmen are not worked more than six days in a week. If a shipman is worked on his off day, he will be given permission on one of the days of the week in turns.

Is shipman not working on his off day, got paid?
Shipman, not working on his off day will be paid as much as a day wage.

How much higher is Shipmen working on weekend holiday, got paid?
Shipmen, working on the weekend holiday, will be paid as %25 raised pay additional to his regular wage.

According to Labor Law article no.63, before weekends employee needs to work full on workdays to have holiday.

For instance; If there is 45 hours of working plan in six days in your work place, you need to work full to have weekend holiday.

Weekend holiday’s duration is 24 hours and must be used uninterrupted.

Right to have weekend holidays cannot be lost in the case of having medical report in weekdays.  The days which someone is not coming to work, are counted as workdays and one has the right to weekend holidays even if he didn’t go to work.

2- Does employer have to pay on weekend holidays?

Employer has to pay on weekend holidays. Weekend holidays has to be given as paid. Even if someone is not working on that day when he has medical report, that days wage can be acquired.

3- How wage is paid in the case of working in weekends?

Since Working in weekends’ results in exceeding 45 days of working, they need to be paid as overworking.

For instance: When we consider an employee whose holiday is on Sunday and who works on Sunday, he will got paid however, 45 days of working will be exceeded and his wage will be paid as %45 increasedand consequently he will be paid two and a half per diem.

Overworking during day or night shifts, working during national holidays, holidays and weekends are regarded as overworking according to Turkish Press Law.

2- IS THERE NEEDED A WRITTEN AGREEMENT WITH JOURNALIST?
It is obligatory to make a written agreement between the employer and the journalist.

3- SHOULD ONE CALCULATE ALL OF THE EMPLOYMENT PERIODS FOR SENIORITY INDEMNITY EVEN IF HE/SHE WORKS IN DIFFERENT GAZETTES?
Seniority indemnity should be calculated since the date when the journalist enters this profession. 

4- IF A JOURNALIST LEAVES HIS/HER JOB WITHOUT USING HIS/HER ANNUAL LEAVES, SHOULD THERE BE MADE A VACATION PAYMENT?
If a journalist has not used his/her annual leaves during his/her employment period, in the event of dismissal of journalist, vacation payment should be given to him/her.
