The number of unemployed persons aged 15 years old and over decreased by 573 thousand to 3 million 971 thousand persons in the period of March 2020 in Turkey compared with the same period of the previous year. The unemployment rate occurred as 13.2% with 0.9 percentage point decrease. Non-agricultural unemployment rate occurred as 15.0% with 1.1 percentage point decrease.

Employment rate realized as 42.0%

The number of employed persons decreased by 1 million 662 thousand to 26 million 133 thousand persons in the period of March 2020 compared with the same period of the previous year. The employment rate occurred as 42.0% with 3.4 percentage point decrease.

While the number of agricultural employment decreased by 538 thousand persons, construction decreased by 248 thousand persons and services decreased by 903 thousand persons, industry increased by 26 thousand persons. According to the distribution of employment by sector; 16.4% was employed in agriculture, 21.1% was employed in industry, 4.9% was employed in construction and 57.6% was employed in services.

Labour force participation rate realized as 48.4%

The number of persons in the labour force realized 30 million 104 thousand persons with 2 million 235 thousand persons decrease in the period of March 2020 compared with the same period of the previous year. Labour force participation rate (LFPR) was 48.4% with 4.5 percentage point decrease.

The rate of unregistered employment realized as 29.1%

The ratio of persons working without any social security relating to the main job occurred 29.1% with 4.8 percentage point decrease in the period of March 2020 compared with the same period of the previous year. The rate of unregistered employment realized as 18.6% with 4.5 percentage point decrease in the non-agricultural sector compared to the same period of the previous year.

For 15-64 age group, unemployment rate realized as 13.5% and employment rate realized as 46.5%

For the 15-64 age group, the unemployment rate occurred as 13.5% with 0.8 percentage point decrease and non-agricultural unemployment rate occurred as 15.1% with 1.1 percentage point decrease compared to the same period of the previous year. In this age group, employment rate occurred as 46.5% with 3.5 percentage point decrease and labour force participation rate occurred as 53.7% with 4.7 percentage point decrease.

Youth unemployment rate realized as 24.6%, employment rate realized as 27.4%

The youth unemployment rate between aged 15-24 years realized as 24.6% with 0.6 percentage point decrease and the youth employment rate realized as 27.4% with 5.1 percentage point decrease compared with the same period of the previous year. In the same period, labour force participation rate realized as 36.3% with 7.2 percentage point decrease. The rate of neither in employment nor in education realized as 27.9% with 4.2 percentage point increase compared with the same period of the previous year.

Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate realized as 13.0%, employment rate realized as 42.6%

Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate realized as 13.0% with 0.3 percentage point increase. The number of unemployed persons decreased by 33 thousand to 3 million 972 thousand persons.

Seasonally adjusted employment rate realized as 42.6% with 1.7 percentage point decrease. The number of employed persons estimated as 26 million 512 thousand persons with 1 million 3 thousand persons decrease compared with the same period of the previous year.

Seasonally adjusted labour force participation rate was 49.0% with 1.7 percentage point decrease. The number of labour force estimated as 30 million 484 thousand persons with 1 million 35 thousand persons decrease.

According to the seasonally adjusted number of employment by sectors, employment in agriculture decreased by 21 thousand persons, industry decreased by 85 thousand persons, construction decreased by 202 thousand persons and services decreased by 694 thousand persons.

The unemployment rate occurred as 13.6% with 1.1 percentage point decrease. Non-agricultural unemployment rate occurred as 15.4% with 1.5 percentage point decrease.

Employment rate realized as 43.1%

The number of employed persons decreased by 602 thousand to 26 million 753 thousand persons in the period of February 2020 compared with the same period of the previous year. The employment rate occurred as 43.1% with 1.7 percentage point decrease.

While the number of agricultural employment decreased by 530 thousand persons, construction decreased by 93 thousand persons and services decreased by 183 thousand persons, industry increased by 205 thousand persons. According to the distribution of employment by sector; 15.5% was employed in agriculture, 20.9% was employed in industry, 5.2% was employed in construction and 58.3% was employed in services.

Labour force participation rate realized as 49.9%

The number of persons in the labour force realized 30 million 982 thousand persons with 1 million 102 thousand persons decrease in the period of February 2020 compared with the same period of the previous year. Labour force participation rate (LFPR) was 49.9% with 2.6 percentage point decrease.

The ratio of persons working without any social security relating to the main job occurred 30.0% with 3.5 percentage point decrease in the period of February 2020 compared with the same period of the previous year. The rate of unregistered employment realized as 20.2% with 2.6 percentage point decrease in the non-agricultural sector compared to the same period of the previous year.

Public sector employment increased as 4.0%

According to data gathered by Presidency of Strategy and Budget, total public sector employment realized as 4 million 699 thousand persons with 4.0% percentage point increase in the firsth quarter of 2020 compared to the same period of the previous year.

For 15-64 age group, unemployment rate realized as 13.9% and employment rate realized as 47.6%

For the 15-64 age group, the unemployment rate occurred as 13.9% with 1.1 percentage point decrease and non-agricultural unemployment rate occurred as 15.5% with 1.4 percentage point decrease compared to the same period of the previous year. In this age group, employment rate occurred as 47.6% with 1.7 percentage point decrease and labour force participation rate occurred as 55.4% with 2.6 percentage point decrease.

Youth unemployment rate realized as 24.4%, employment rate realized as 29.5%

The youth unemployment rate between aged 15-24 years realized as 24.4% with 1.7 percentage point decrease and the youth employment rate realized as 29.5% with 2.5 percentage point decrease compared with the same period of the previous year. In the same period, labour force participation rate realized as 39.1% with 4.2 percentage point decrease. The rate of neither in employment nor in education realized as 26.7% with 1.9 percentage point increase compared with the same period of the previous year.

Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate realized as 12.7%, employment rate realized as 44.3%

Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate realized as 12.7% without any change compared with the same period of the previous year. The number of unemployed persons decreased by 67 thousand to 3 million 996 thousand persons.

Seasonally adjusted employment rate realized as 44.3% with 0.9 percentage point decrease. The number of employed persons estimated as 27 million 509 thousand persons with 495 thousand persons decrease compared with the same period of the previous year.

Seasonally adjusted labour force participation rate was 50.7% with 1 percentage point decrease. The number of labour force estimated as 31 million 505 thousand persons with 562 thousand persons decrease.

According to the seasonally adjusted number of employment by sectors, employment in agriculture decreased by 218 thousand persons, industry decreased by 56 thousand persons, construction decreased by 28 thousand persons and services decreased by 194 thousand persons.

The number of unemployed persons aged 15 years old and over increased by 676 thousand to 3 million 900 thousand persons in the period of February 2017 in Turkey compared with the same period of the previous year. The unemployment rate was 12.6% with 1.7 percentage point increase. In the same period, non-agricultural unemployment rate was 14.8% with 2.1 percentage point increase. While youth unemployment rate including persons aged 15-24 was 23.3% with 4.7 percentage point increase, the unemployment rate for persons aged 15-64 occurred as 12.9% with 1.8 percentage point increase.

Employment rate realized as 45.3%
The number of employed persons rose by 500 thousand to 26 million 956 thousand persons in the period of February 2017 compared with the same period of the previous year. The employment rate occurred unchanged as 45.3%.

The number of agricultural employment increased by 160 thousand persons and the number of non-agricultural employment increased by 340 thousand persons in this period. According to the distribution of employment by sector; 18.7% was employed in agriculture, 19.5% was in industry, 6.7% was in construction and 55.2% was in services. Employment in agriculture increased by 0.3 percentage point,   services increased by 0.2 percentage point while industry decreased by 0.4 percentage point and construction realized without any change.

Labor force participation rate realized as 51.8%
The number of persons in the labor force amounted 30 million 855 thousand persons with 1 million 175 thousand persons increase in the period of February 2017 compared with the same period of the previous year. Labor force participation rate (LFPR) was 51.8% with 1 percentage point increase. LFPR for male was 71.7% with 0.8 percentage point increase and the rate for female was 32.3% with 1.2 percentage point increase compared with the same period of the previous year.

The rate of unregistered employment realized as 32.8%
The ratio of persons working without any social security relating to the main job occurred 32.8% with 0.7 percentage point increase in the period of February 2017 compared with the same period of the previous year.

Public sector employment decreased as 1.2%
According to data gathered by The Ministry of Finance, total public sector employment realized as 3 million 558 thousand persons with 1.2% percentage point decrease in the first quarter of 2017 compared to the same period of the previous year.

Seasonally adjusted employed increased and unemployed decreased
Seasonally adjusted employed persons increased by 143 thousand persons and occurred 27 million 699 thousand persons compared with the previous period. Seasonally adjusted employment rate occurred 46.5% with 0.2 percentage point increase.

The number of seasonally adjusted unemployed persons decreased by 15 thousand to 3 million 674 thousand persons in the period of February 2017 compared with the previous period. The unemployment rate was 11.7% with 0.1 percentage point decrease.

Seasonally adjusted labor force participation rate was 52.7% with 0.2 percentage point increase compared with the previous period. According to the number of employment by sector, employment in agriculture increased by 22 thousand persons, construction increased by 61 thousand persons, services construction increased by 83 thousand persons while industry decreased by 23 thousand persons.

Unemployment rate realized as 9.6% with 0.4 percentage point increase for male, 13.7% with 1.1 percentage point increase for female.

In the same year, non-agricultural unemployment rate realized as 13% with 0.6 percentage point increase. While youth unemployment rate including 15-24 age groups realized as 19.6% with 1.1 percentage point increase, unemployment rate for 15-64 age group occurred as 11.1% with 0.6 percentage point increase.

Employment rate realized as 46.3%
Number of employed persons aged 15 years old and over realized as 27 million 205 thousand persons with 584 thousand persons increase and employment rate occurred as 46.3% with 0.3 percentage point increase. Employment rate occurred as 65.1% with 0.1 percentage point increase for male and 28% with 0.5 percentage point increase for female.

Agricultural employment decreased as 178 thousand persons and non-agricultural employment increased as 763 thousand persons. Of those who were employed in 2016; 19.5% was employed in agriculture, 19.5% was employed in industry, 7.3% was employed in construction and 53.7% was employed in service sector. Employment in services increased by 1.5 percentage point, construction increased by 0.1 percentage point while the share of agriculture decreased by 1.1 percentage point and industry decreased by 0.5 percentage point compared to the previous year.

Labor force participation rate realized as 52%
Labor force realized as 30 million 535 thousand persons with 857 thousand persons increase and labor force participation rate realized as 52% with 0.7 percentage point increase in 2016. Labor force participation rate was realized as 72% with 0.4 percentage point increase for male and 32.5% for female with 1 percentage point increase.

The consumer confidence index calculated from the results of the consumer tendency survey carried out in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute and Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey increased by 3.2% compared to the previous month. The index became 67.8 in March while it was 65.7 in February.

Financial situation expectation index realized 87.8
The financial situation expectation of household index increased by 2.1% compared to the previous month and became 87.8 in March. This increase resulted from the increase in the ratio of people expecting better financial situation of household in the next 12 months period.

General economic situation expectation index became 93.2
The general economic situation expectation index which was 88 in February increased by 5.8% and became 93.2 in March. This increase shows that number of consumers expecting a better general economic situation in the next 12 months increased compared to the previous month.

Number of people unemployed expectation index became 70.4
The number of people unemployed expectation index increased by 3.7% compared to the previous month and became 70.4 in March. This increase stemmed from the increase in the ratio of people expecting a decrease in the number of unemployed persons in the next 12 months.

Probability of saving index realized as 19.9
The probability of saving index decreased by 5.6% from 21 in February to 19.9 in March. This decrease shows that the possibility of saving of consumers in the next 12 months period decreased compared to the previous month.

The numbers of agricultural employment decreased by 88 thousand persons while the number of non-agricultural employment increased by 307 thousand persons in this period. According to the distribution of employment by sector; 18.4% was employed in agriculture, 19.7% was in industry, 6.9% was in construction and 54.9% was in services. Employment in agriculture decreased by 0.5 percentage point, industry decreased by 0.4 percentage point and construction decreased by 0.2 percentage point while the share of services increased by 1 percentage point.

Seasonally adjusted employed persons decreased by 36 thousand persons and occurred 27 million 301 thousand persons compared with the previous period. Seasonally adjusted employment rate occurred  46.2% with 0.1 percentage point decrease.
The number of seasonally adjusted unemployed persons occurred as 3 million 717 thousand persons with 49 thousand persons increase in the period of December 2016 compared with the previous period. The unemployment rate was 12% with 0.2 percentage point increase.
