The calculation of Paid Employee Statistics is based on Concise and Premium Service Declaration. In the regions affected by the earthquake disaster in our country, force majeure was declared and these declarations were postponed. For this reason, statistical methods were used to impute missing observations in the February 2023 calculations. The share of these estimated observations in the total is 4.29%. The results announced in this release are not expected to have the earthquake effect since employees who work at least one day in the reference month and paid for their work are considered within the scope of employment.

Number of paid employees increased by 6.6% annually

Number of paid employees including industry, construction, trade-services sectors increased by 6.6% in February 2023 compared with the same month of the previous year. While the number of paid employees was 13 million 614 thousand 855 in the same month of the previous year, it became 14 million 515 thousand 554 in February 2023.

When sub-sectors are examined; number of paid employees in industrial sector increased by 4.2%, in construction sector increased by 15.4% and in trade-services sector increased by 6.7% annually.

Number of paid employees remained same monthly

Number of paid employees including industry, construction, trade-services sectors remained same in February 2023 compared with the previous month.

When sub-sectors are examined; number of paid employees in industrial sector increased 0.1%, in construction sector and in trade-services sector remained same monthly.

Calendar effect has not been observed in number of paid employees. Therefore unadjusted series are used instead of calendar adjusted series.

Monthly changes refer to the changes of seasonally adjusted values compared to the previous month.
