House Sales Statistics, December 2019 in Turkey

In Turkey, house sales decreased by 1.9% in 2019 compared to the previous year and hence, became 1 348 729. In house sales, 332 508 house were sold by mortgage sales and ownership of 1 016 221 houses changed by other sales. The share of the mortgage sales were 24.7%. In Turkey, first house sales were 511 682 and second hand house sales were 837 047 in 2019. The share of the first house sales were 37.9% and the second hand sales were 62.1%. For the house sales of 2019, İstanbul had the highest share of house sales with 17.6% and 237 675 sold house. The followers of Istanbul were Ankara with 132 486 house sales with 9.8% and İzmir  79 221 house sales with 5.9%. The least house sold province is Ardahan with 185 house sales.

In Turkey, house sales increased by 47.7% in December 2019 compared to the same month of the previous year and hence, became 202 074. For the house sales of December 2019, İstanbul had the highest share of house sales with 20% and 40_317 sold house. The followers of İstanbul were Ankara with 20 084 house sales and İzmir 12 284 house sales with the share of 9.9% and 6.1% respectively. The least house sold provinces were Hakkari with 29 house sales, Ardahan with 33 house sales and Tunceli with 103 house sales.

In December 2019, 50 278 ownership of the houses changed by mortgage sales

The mortgaged house sales throughout Turkey became 50 278 by increasing 603.4% compared to the same month of the previous year. House sales with mortgage had a 24.9% share of all house sales in Turkey. İstanbul has the highest mortgage house sales in Turkey with 10 137 sales and with the share of 20.2%.

Ownership of 151 796 houses changed by other sales

Other house sales in Turkey became 151 796 by increasing 17% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the other sales, İstanbul was the first province with 30 180 sales and 19.9% share. Other house sales had 74.9% share of all house sales in İstanbul. Ankara was the second province with 13 873 sales. Ankara was followed by İzmir with 8 548 sales. The least other house sales was realized in Ardahan with 26 house sales.

In house sales, 75 480 of houses were sold for the first time
First house sales in Turkey became 75 480 by increasing 8% compared to the same month of the previous year. First house sales had 37.4% share of all house sales in Turkey. The most first house sales was in İstanbul with 14 772 sales. İstanbul was the first province in Turkey ranking that had most first house sales share with 19.6%. The followers of İstanbul  were Ankara with  6 079  house  sales and  İzmir with 3 760 house sales.
Ownership of 126 594 houses changed by second hand salesSecond hand house sales in Turkey became 126 594 by increasing 89% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the second hand sales, İstanbul was the first province again with 25 545 sales and 20.2% share. Share of the second hand sales was 63.4% in İstanbul in total house sales. Ankara was the second province with 14 005 sales and Ankara was followed by İzmir with 8 524 sales.

In Turkey, 45 483 houses were sold to foreigners in 2019

House sales to foreigners increased by 14.7% in 2019 compared to the previous year. In house sales to foreigners, İstanbul was the first province with 20 857 sales in 2019. Antalya was the second province with 8 951 sales. Antalya was followed by 2_539 sales with Ankara and 2 213 sales with Bursa.

In December 2019, 5 298 houses were sold to foreigners

In house sales to foreigners became 5 298 by increasing 16.2% compared to the same month of the previous year. İstanbul was the first province with 2 650 sales in December 2019. The followers of İstanbul were Antalya with 957 house sales, Ankara with 317 house sales, Bursa with 212 house sales and Yalova with 154 house sales.

Most house sales were made to Iraqi citizens according to country nationalities

Iraqi citizens bought 7 596 houses from Turkey in 2019. The followers of Iraq were Iran with 5 423 house sales, Russia with 2_893 house sales, Saudi Arabia with 2 208 house sales and Afghanistan with 2 191 house sales.

In December, Iraqi citizens bought 897 houses from Turkey. The followers of Iraq were Iran with 763 house sales, Russia with 362 house sales and Afghanistan with 312 house sales.

In Turkey, 775 653 men and 420 276 women became the owner of house in 2019

While 775 653 houses with share 57.5% were bought by men and 420 276 houses with share 31.2% were bought by women, 24 141 houses with share 1.8% were bought jointly by women and men in general of Turkey.

Number of house sales by genders, 2018-2019  

İstanbul ranked the first in terms of the number of houses purchased by women with 66 414 and 15.8% share in Turkey. While men bought 126 170 houses in İstanbul, 5 337 houses were bought by men and women jointly. The lowest number of houses sold to women was in Ardahan with 46 sales while Hakkari had the lowest number of houses sold to men with 125 sales.
