Consumer price index (CPI) increased by 1.31% in April 2017
A rise in general index was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 1.31%, on December of the previous year by 5.71%, on same month of the previous year by 11.87% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 8.66% in April 2017.

The highest monthly increase was 9.13% in clothing and footwear
In April 2017, the indices rose for miscellaneous goods and services 1.26%, food and non-alcoholic beverages 1.23%, for hotels, cafes and restaurants 0.96% and for furnishing and household equipment 0.94%.

The only monthly decrease was 0.02% in communication
In April 2017, the index declined only for communication amongst the main groups by 0.02%.

The highest annual increase was 21.65% in alcoholic beverages and tobacco
Transportation with 17.94%, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 15.63%, miscellaneous goods and services with 13.68% and health with 13.32% were the other main groups where high annual increases were realized.

The highest monthly increase was 1.98% in TR63 (Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Osmaniye)
The highest increases in CPI were recorded in TRC1 (Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Kilis) region with 7.40% compared with the December of the previous year, TRC1 (Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Kilis) region with 14.58% compared with the same month of the previous year and in TR62 (Adana, Mersin) region with 10.18% on the twelve months moving averages basis.

In April 2017 within average prices of 414 items in the index, average prices of 60 items remained unchanged while average prices of 284 items increased and average prices of 70 items decreased.
